I don’t know if it’s the weather, or the time of year, or just the way the jobs have fallen- but we have spent a lot of time this week removing convolvulus.

It reminds me how far most of our properties have come, and honestly makes me a little bit proud. Some gardens have had us diligently removing convolvulus every year, every time it pops up- and they went from being overgrown nightmares at this time of year to convolvulus free. We have a Newtown job which is like that- it comes over from the neighbours every year, tiny thin tendrils poking up and having a go- and every year we can get them back to the source- usually to a fenceline or especially hard bit of clay- and remove them completely. Even then, they do eventually give up as long as you knock them back before their leaves can get especially committed to creating chlorophyll (yes, we are starving them out).

So today I thought I would cover a couple of situations and methods of control, as well as your basic dos and don’ts of dealing with convolvulus (I keep adding an extra ‘o’ to make convolvulous- oops).
